Youth and Eco club

Objectives
  • To instil Environment friendliness among students by developing awareness and education on judicious use of Natural resources, Sustainability and conservation
  • Empower students to participate and take up meaningful environmental activities and projects for experiential activities to promote sound environmental behavior
  • To develop life skills, build self-esteem & self-confidence and resilience and counter negative emotions of stress, shame and fear which will enhance child’s capability to combat the challenges in their future life
  • To strengthen physical, mental, emotional and social skills of students by providing opportunities to think critically and solve problems logically through participatory, and process-oriented activities

Description

As part of Youth and Eco club initiative, Schools conducted curricular and co-curricular activities to bring awareness about the Public Campaigns such as ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and ‘Fit India movement’. YEC activities included activities like plantation, cleanliness, beautification and conservation of the school campus area or any other innovative practice. Debates, music, arts, sports, reading, physical activities conducted as part of YEC initiative. These activities help in utilising the idle school infrastructure like play-ground, sports equipment, libraries, in-school garden area, musical instruments etc. which helps the students to develop hobbies, skills and interest they might not otherwise be able to explore.

Under YEC, schools organised various activities such as Book reading, Storytelling and moral-sharing etc., to encourage use of Libraries and improve the reading habits of students.

Paryawaran Prayogshala

In 6123 government schools in the state focus activities were conducted to create environmental awareness and increase participation through environmental project work at School level. These activities resulted in awareness on importance of creating Single use plastic free society and side effects of overuse of chemical fertilisers. This initiative succeeded in bringing the awareness on environmental conservation during daily life of students.
