Adolescent Education Program

The Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) is an important initiative that aims to empower young people with accurate, age appropriate and culturally relevant information, promote healthy attitudes and develop skills to enable them to respond to real life situations in positive and responsible ways . Adolescence is a very special period of a person’s life where an individual assumes a sense of self-identity and is marked by a myriad of emotions including enthusiasm, idealism, self-doubt, and anxiety. It is a transitional phase between childhood and adulthood and is characterized by a number of physical, emotional, cognitive, intellectual and attitudinal changes.

Samagra Shiksha Gujarat formed a committee to decide the strategy and timeline of the program. Experts from different departments were called to prepare the guidelines of the program. Following topics covered in Adolescence education program :

  • Adolescence in its biological, psychological, socio-cultural and moral dimension, menstrual hygiene management and health
  • Daily nutritional requirement of adolescent girls, malnutrition, and anemia
  • Child Abuse Related Legal Provisions-POCSO ACT
